The public log
Every stamp is an entry in this append-only log. Entries can be added but never changed or removed without it showing. Anyone can download and mirror it.
Latest checkpoint
A checkpoint is a signed summary of the whole log: its size and a single root hash computed from every entry. If any past entry were changed, the root hash would change.

External anchors
Independent timestamping authorities timestamp our checkpoints. Their tokens prove the log already had this content at their time, so entries can't be backdated past them. Why this matters.
